(I know I say that for almost every book, but still!) :) This is a story about the battle at Franklin, Tennessee near the end of the Civil War. Elizabeth "Lizzie" Clouston is a governess at Carnton, but when the home is converted into a confederate hospital she is called to assist the military doctor with surgeries on the wounded men. As the long days of tending to the wounded pass, she earns the respect and admiration of the soldiers.
